Matthew 27

Apple + Z

Let me translate for you non-Mac people. Press the <Control> key then the letter <Z>. This is what’s known as the most powerful and wonderful “Undo” command.

I first learned the power of apple+Z when I was taking a Photoshop class at the College of Southern Idaho. I can’t remember how many times that I’ve made a grave mistake by changing an image in a way that I didn’t intend to, only hoping to be able to press apple+Z and restore my data. Most of the time it works. However, there have been times when you “commit” a change in your image you just can’t go back and restore it. That is the time that this grown man begins to cry. All of that work, gone!

I wish I had a dollar (not a nickel, inflation you know) for every time I heard my professor say, “Wouldn’t it be nice if life had an “undo” command?”

Have you ever done or said something that you wish you could take it back? Your insides feel like they’re on the outside. You can’t sleep and life just seems to hang in the balance.

I’m sure that Judas was thinking the same thing in Matthew 27. When he saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and elders. I’m sure that he hoped to be able to “undo” the terrible thing that he had done. Then scripture says that he went away and hanged himself. (There is a lot more to share behind this verse but I’m running out of word count. If you would like to know more, I’d be happy to share it.)

There is no “undo” command in life, just something better. Jesus.

I’ve heard it said this way, “God does not undo the past….He redeems it.”

Today, know that Christ loves you and wants to redeem your life. One thing’s for sure, Jesus doesn’t need Photoshop to create His image in you.
